Child Sponsorship

A new chapter
Learn more about why Child Sponsorship is changing and the impact you can make.
Thank you for making a difference!
For 19 years, child sponsorship has helped children access education, strengthened families, and built inclusive communities in Ethiopia, Haiti, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Your support has opened doors for children with disabilities and empowered local schools and churches to embrace accessibility, inclusion, and belonging!
What’s changing?
On February 2, 2026, we announced that our individual child sponsorship program will be phased out over the coming year and transition to a new model of support.
Why? Sponsorship has been meaningful, but it’s become harder to sustain. Rising costs, fewer sponsorships, and challenges in unstable regions make it difficult to keep the program strong. We want your generosity to have greater impact - so we’re moving to a monthly partnership model that supports disability-focused work worldwide and here in Canada.

Partner with us in a new way
Over the next year, we are transitioning to a monthly partnership model that continues to fund disability focused work around the world.
Our goals remain the same:
thriving children,
inclusive education,
teacher training,
providing assistive devices, and,
advocacy to fight stigma around disability.
Our trusted local partners make the difference
The people who know a community best are those who live and work there. That’s why we rely on our in-country partners—they understand the needs of children and families, can respond quickly to urgent issues, and know when support is no longer needed so your generosity can help others who need it most.
We want to give them this flexibility to steward your gifts wisely and create the greatest impact for the causes you care about—helping children and families thrive and building communities where everybody belongs.
By shifting to this new model, we can focus on what we do best: disability outreach, community empowerment, and sustainable development—while equipping local partners to respond effectively and amplify your impact.

Letter exchange
We are committed to helping the families of the sponsored children to transition well out of individual sponsorship. With this in mind, you will receive a final report and every child will receive a final communication from our in-country partners.
If you’d also like to send an additional personal note, please send in time to distribute before the school year ends.
