KARIS Virtual Courses
We welcome employees from agencies across Ontario and Saskatchewan to join Karis Disability Services employees as they learn and grow.
Our courses are delivered using Zoom, so geographical boundaries and weather conditions are no longer a barrier. Our 3.5 hour courses have been designed with virtual delivery in mind. Come prepared for active, engaged learning.
COST - During the COVID-19 pandemic, we offered our virtual courses to any Developmental Service agency for free. We are pleased to extend this offer to April 1, 2025.
After April 2025, courses will be available for $35 per person.

RESPECT should be the common everyday experience of every person who receives support, and every employee who provides support.
The challenge is ensuring that all share a common understanding of the word “respect” within the context of the organizations where people work.
The RESPECT, Disrespect & Abuse course helps to define, describe and illustrate the differences between1) respect and disrespect, 2) disrespect and abuse, and 3) abuse categories and examples.
Participants should expect active engagement through immersive videos, case studies and guided discussions.

Communicating effectively through documentation is imperative when supporting people who experience life with disabilities to ensure continuity of care, to address items of importance, and to maintain accurate, detailed records.
The Effective Documentation course examines how we can gather information and inform others, monitor progress, and validate work performed with professionalism.

Supporting people with medication must be done with great care, concentration and awareness, and recognizing the risks associated with this responsibility.
The Medication Administration course outlines a four-step process to assist with successful administration of medication. This includes organization, preparation, administration, and documentation which keeps people and how medication affects their lives as the focus.

Supporting people to live self-directed lives begins with a strengths-based mindset. We must focus on what is strong not what is wrong.
The Person Directed Living course explores three key priorities: Promoting Self-Direction, Encouraging Contribution, and Fostering Belonging. We unpack the “what” and the “why” and the “how” to accomplish each of these priorities.
