Interested in becoming a Host Family provider?
We are always looking for more people to become a Host Family!
As a Host Family provider, you can expect to be supported every step of the way. After you apply, your application will be carefully considered by our experts, and you will receive special training. Then, you will be matched with an adult with a developmental disability who has similar interests as you.
Once you’re a Host Family, you will have access to 24/7 on-call support, as well as monthly check-ins from us. Host Families also receive a per diem amount every month.

Host Family is a supported living model for people, typically over the age of 18, with developmental disabilities. In this model, a person with disabilities is matched with a person or family to live and do life with. People who thrive in a family setting should consider living with a Host Family.

Host Family providers can be single people, couples, or families with children. We recognize that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach and we welcome families of all types.
Host Family providers are compassionate, empathetic, and adaptable. We regularly host virtual and in-person information sessions where you can ask more questions and learn more.

When a person with a developmental disability lives with a Host Family, they can expect to be treated as a member of the family, receiving the same supports that a member of the family might receive. This might include things like a room accommodation, meals, emotional support, and more.

People and families are matched based on their shared interests, lifestyles, and other factors like location.
Once chosen, Host Family providers will receive some training and will have access to 24/7 on-call support from a Karis Host Family coordinator.
Host Family providers are also given a per diem payment and other appropriate allowances to help with costs related to inviting a person to live your home. -
