Our Next Strategic Plan

Our Next Strategic Plan

As we embark on developing a strategic plan to guide our work over the next three years, we are intentionally engaging everybody — people supported, families, employees, and partners — towards co-designing our next strategic plan.

Insights and Priorities

Over the past eight months of our co-design journey, we have listened and learned together through conversations with people supported, families, employees, and partners. The powerful insights and aspirations from these conversations have shaped the priorities which will guide our strategic direction— grounded in dignity, choice, and belonging. These priorities reflect our commitment to investing in our teams, delivering person-directed services, and deepening relationships with Christian communities and partners.

We invite you to review the draft priorities and use the form below to share your feedback as we continue co-designing a plan that reflects our shared mission and values.

Our Approach

During the calendar year 2025, we have been engaging with all relevant groups to co-design our 3-year strategic plan. We are engaging with everybody including members of the Karis Board of Directors, our leaders across all our communities, our employees and teams, people with disabilities and their families (including people waiting for services), and key external partners such as churches and community organizations. We are very excited to create accessible and inclusive spaces for us to listen and learn together. We are committed to sharing communications with all groups to create awareness and build momentum throughout the process.

We are leveraging co-design methodology as we engage with people with disabilities and families. Our strategic partner, Davis Pier, is advising us and will be leading facilitated conversations with everybody to help us co-design our next strategic plan. Our facilitated conversations will be informed by data from our systems and learnings from the past five years. We are also investing in deepening our understanding of the current realities within the development services sector to help us be better positioned for the future.

Our strategic work will help us mature our organizational culture and better align our work with priorities as we co-design our next strategic plan.

Timeline

We have engaged with everybody over an 18-month period in two phases:

First Phase of Engaging Everybody (January through March): several facilitated conversations with employee and teams, people with disabilities and their families, and key external partners.

Second Phase of Engaging Everybody (May through June): facilitated discussions and roundtable learnings in ten locations across our communities through the Karis Connected Engaging Everybody sessions.

We are working with our organizational leaders to define and map out the plan, and to ensure alignment with organizational Ends. There are several other activities included within the timeline for us to stay connected with everybody.

Upcoming Events

Everybody Engages Webinars

As we move forward in our co-design journey to shape the future of Karis together, we’ll be hosting two Everybody Engages webinars. These sessions are key moments to stay connected, informed, and involved. Join us as we reflect on what’s been heard, preview what’s ahead, and continue co-designing our path forward.

In addition to the webinars, we’ll be seeking one final round of broad community feedback on the draft strategic plan from late August through mid-September through a webform and other avenues. Stay tuned for more details on how to participate.
