From Haiti to the World: Telineda's Story

In the face of hardship, Telineda's unwavering determination shines brightly, a testament to the power of opportunity when given the right tools. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Telineda grew up in a small family with three sisters, surrounded by love but also the constant struggles that many Haitians face. In 2010, her life took a transformative turn when she was selected as one of the 261 children sponsored by Karis Disability Services Global. Sponsorship opened doors she had once only dreamed of.

From a young age, Telineda displayed a passion for fashion! She poured her heart into sketching designs and shared them with her sponsor. Encouraged by their support, she began to see her dreams take shape. In 2017, Telineda completed her classical studies and enrolled in fashion school, mastering the art of creating beautiful outfits. She soon opened a small workshop at home, sewing clothes for students, choir members, and others in her community.

Today, Telineda is more than just a talented designer. Our partner in Haiti describes her as “a kreyol lamp, battling the harsh wind to keep her light lit and beaming hope on our young girls and boys in the sponsorship program.” Telineda’s dream is to become a household name designer, promoting Haitian craftsmanship to the world.

Many children are awaiting sponsorship! For $41 a month, you can give a child, their family, and their community the right tools to thrive.
